The SMDP Biotech Scholars begin the day with breakfast at the host hotel, SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront. Breakfast is included with each scholar’s hotel stay and provides a convenient opportunity to connect with fellow 2026 SMDP Biotech scholars before the day’s activities begin. Often there are some mentors also staying at the same hotel.

There is no assigned seating, but dining in the same hotel offers a chance to continue conversations from the previous evening, and prepare for the experience ahead.
