The 2026 SMDP Biotech Scholars begin Day 2 of the training session with breakfast at the host hotel, SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront. Included with each scholar’s hotel stay, breakfast provides another opportunity to connect with fellow scholars and continue building relationships developed through the program.

Many mentors and program participants may also be staying at the hotel, creating additional opportunities for informal conversation and networking before the day’s sessions begin. With no assigned seating, scholars are encouraged to enjoy the morning atmosphere, reflect on the previous day’s experiences, and prepare for another engaging day of learning and mentorship.
