Here's this week's SMDP Mentor Moment Unfair performance review
You meet your targets, you hit your KPIs, you deliver what was agreed. Then the performance review comes back average or disappointing. You understandably feel frustrated. There can be many reasons for this. Sometimes there are expectations outside the formal KPIs that were never clearly stated. Things like being seen as a team player, fitting a certain team culture, or showing a particular attitude. Is it fair to meet what is written on paper and still be marked down for unwritten expectations? Absolutely not. But you don’t work alone. You work with people, in teams, and even though it feels unfair, this reality influences outcomes.
